Milton Maina
Milton Maina, a Form 3 student at Moi Forces Academy, spent much of his school life fighting an invisible battle. While other students moved easily through friendships and study groups, Milton felt locked out, unable to speak up, unable to share what he was going through, and unable to ask for help.
Social interaction didn’t come naturally to him.
What began as quiet discomfort slowly grew into isolation, academic decline, and eventually depression. Milton carried challenges he couldn’t express and problems he couldn’t manage alone. The silence weighed heavily, affecting both his confidence and his performance in school.
Everything shifted when he joined the psychological and mentorship sessions offered through The Family Group Foundation.
For the first time, Milton found a safe space, a place where he could open up, be heard, and be guided. The classes helped him understand his emotions, break down his barriers, and rebuild the social skills he’d struggled with for years.
The change has been profound.
Milton now interacts freely with peers, seeks help when he needs it, and no longer carries everything alone. His academic performance has improved, and the heavy fog has begun to clear.
He has learned that healing starts with honesty, with speaking up.
Milton wants other young people facing mental health challenges to know they’re not alone.
With renewed strength, improved social skills, and a stronger academic foundation, Milton is stepping into the future with confidence — no longer defined by silence, but empowered by support.
He remains deeply grateful to The Family Group Foundation for walking with him through one of the hardest seasons of his life.
